Green Valley PTA 2009 - 2010

The Green Valley Parent Teacher Association is a vital part of our school community.  The PTA’s mission is to speak on behalf of all children to organizations that make decisions affecting children, to assist parents in developing the skills they need to nurture children, and to promote parent and public involvement in schools and communities.

With over 600 members and 70 parents holding committee positions, the PTA is able to make a significant impact on the daily lives of our children.  For example, the PTA:

• Provides instructional supply money to teachers so that they can have additional learning materials in the classroom
• Provide support for the library, technology, STEP and assembly programs
• Administers the school Enrichment program
• Provides an avenue for children and their families to participate in community service projects such as the Halloween Costume drive (supporting our partner school in West Contra Costa County) and the holiday Toy Drive supporting Foster-A-Dream.
• Acts as a main source of information for the school community by publishing the weekly electronic newsletter, maintaining the parking lot signboards, publishing the school directory, calendar and yearbook, and coordinating our communication system.
• Puts on family events enjoyed by many such as the Fall Festival, Bingo Night, Mother/Son Event, Father/Daughter Event, Movies Night, ect.

The PTA is proud to have a strong and active membership and always welcomes new members.  PTA meetings are held on the third Wednesday each month at 8:45 AM in the multi-use room.  The meetings are a great source of information about what is going on at the school and always include a presentation by the principal, Tasha Anestos.  Everyone is welcome, including younger siblings.
